GDCD Tour de France 2022
In the summer of 2022, ALIVE served as the official hospitality provider for the Tour de France when the Grand Départ took place in Denmark. This involved executing no fewer than 18 events across five cities, with participation from over 8,500 attendees during the three days as the world’s largest cycling race passed through the country.
18 events in three days
The task involved setting up VIP areas in various cities along the route, allowing thousands of paying guests to get up close to the riders, the race, and the magic of the world’s most famous cycling event.
The VIP areas varied in size depending on the conditions and space available in each city. However, all areas featured grandstands, food and beverage services, tents, various forms of entertainment, and security, so the thousands of guests—including businesses and individuals from around the world—could enjoy the race in comfortable surroundings with great, unobstructed views.
Over the three days the Tour de France caravan traveled through Denmark, ALIVE managed 18 events in Copenhagen, Nyborg, Vejle, Sønderborg, and Haderslev. By the time the riders left Denmark, over 8,500 guests had eaten, drunk, chatted, celebrated, and cheered their way through the grand event from our grandstands, tents, and dining areas along the route.
This required an extraordinary effort from the many employees who helped build and dismantle the areas as the race moved to the next city. In the months leading up to the massive event, there was also intense work happening at the ALIVE office in Copenhagen.
Planning in high gear
The success of this major event largely depended on the planning and the dialogue we, as an agency, maintained with authorities in the cities where we set up VIP areas.
We spent months visiting the cities, making arrangements with officials, discussing everything from parking permits to the dimensions of the grandstands, hiring staff, and booking equipment. This meticulous planning resulted in a playbook that guided the execution of the many events.
At ALIVE, we are immensely proud of the work that preceded these events during the race. We continue to apply the lessons learned from those hectic Tour de France days in our daily communications with municipalities and other authorities for various events.

Satisfied organizer
The organizer of the Grand Départ in Denmark also expressed great satisfaction with the work we did at ALIVE for the major event:
“The collaboration with public authorities and all other project partners was extremely satisfactory. This applies to the processes for obtaining all relevant permits, as well as handling the unique requirements for event coordination, planning, logistics, and local considerations across the country that are required or may arise during a major event.”
