Executive conference in Gdansk
In April, ALIVE and a major Danish service company sent 45 employees off to the historic Baltic Sea port city of Gdansk for their annual executive conference. The stay included professional meetings, a ride in four-wheel drive vehicles, and vodka with gold flakes.

Easy + convenient = Gdansk
When a Danish company wants to send its top executives to a conference in a city that can be reached from Billund and Copenhagen, is no more than an hour’s flight away, and offers fine conference hotels, good restaurants, vibrant life right outside hotel doors, and plenty of entertainment options, Gdansk is an obvious choice.
The Polish port city on the Baltic Sea has spent the last several decades rebuilding its historic city center, which was nearly wiped off the map during World War II. The result is a city core where cobblestone streets and winding alleys still define the cityscape, and where modern hotels, good restaurants, and cozy bars sit side by side with historic churches and renovated warehouses along the harborfront. Add to that a price level, especially outside the summer season, which is significantly lower than what one experiences in Germany, Sweden, and England, and you have the perfect place to host a conference for a Danish company.

- Lots of value for money
Great opportunities for relaxation between meetings
Wide range of leisure activities
Easy transport to and from the city
Good business hotels in the city center
Versatile leisure program
The opportunities for leisure activities in and around Gdansk are almost limitless. From tranquil bike rides between the historic seaside towns north of the city to adrenaline-pumping off-road driving in ATVs and four-wheel-drive vehicles in an old gravel pit. For history enthusiasts, guided tours can be arranged at the city’s shipyard, where Lech Walesa organized strikes in the 1970s, sowing the seeds for the eventual overthrow of the communist regime. And for those who enjoy a drink, there are plenty of opportunities for vodka tastings at the city’s restaurants, which line the winding streets of the old town like pearls on a string.
On this trip, the Danish company chose to send its employees on a four-wheel-drive adventure, where it was optional to act as driver or passenger, followed by a vodka tasting at the city’s iconic Restaurant Goldwasser, where their signature vodka is spiced with gold leaf. Naturally, in that order.
