OTW Group trAVEL
When AllerCP and OTW were united under the OTW brand, the new management needed to get to know each other. This led to a group trip. Read here about what they gained from the trip and the collaboration with Nyhavn Business and Group Travel.
A trip the met the expectations
“I chose ALIVE because I had heard good things about them as an organizer and knew they could put together a program that would meet my expectations and requirements” says Anette, CEO at OTW.
The journey was primarily meant to bring the new leadership team closer together, so everyone could get to know each other better and have the best foundation for tackling future tasks collectively. Additionally, it needed to be a unique and surprising destination with the possibility of great nature experiences without compromising on comfort and service.
We had a very good dialogue, and when they presented the idea of going to Iceland, I just thought: “YES, of course that’s what we should do!”
What can traveling together offer that a conference cannot?
The alternative was to gather for a weekend at a conference center with professional presentations and consultant support, but many have had enough of that. The two scenarios cost pretty much the same, but a journey is far more inspiring and a powerful tool to use when strengthening the team spirit. This is something I experienced, for example, in Iceland.
It was when we walked around a bubbling geyser or sat together on the bus that creative ideas and strategic thoughts were exchanged across the group. We talked about things we normally don’t have time to cover—a leadership team is often spread thin in everyday life. At the same time, everyone gained a greater understanding of each other’s areas of work, were constructive, and shared a lot of laughs.
Amazing experience to drive a Super Jeep and snowmobile in Iceland
On the first day, we visited the Blue Lagoon, and it was an awesome way to kick off the trip because we could sit together in the warm, blue water with a beer in hand under the equally blue sky. The next day was all about super jeeps on the Golden Circle, and people were excited from the get-go. We saw the Gullfoss waterfall and the geysers and were then dropped off at the top of a glacier where six snowmobiles were waiting for us. We drove for an hour through a landscape that was simply so beautiful and unique—none of us had ever experienced anything like it before!
The third day started with a city tour in Reykjavik, where we got to know the city’s stories and once again had the opportunity to walk in pairs and talk in ways we don’t usually do back home.
- Fun and unique experiences in Iceland
- A stronger sense of community and mutual understanding
- Foundation for tackling future tasks
- Spontaneous ideas and new perspectives
- Good price comparable to a weekend at a conference center
Task Completed with Flying Colors!
ALIVE has been very professional to work with. When planning a corporate trip, it is invaluable to have a (sparring) partner who creates the program and handles all the practical details, so you don’t have to spend your own time and energy on it. This can quickly add up to many hours of work that are better spent on your primary tasks.
All in all, the three days in Iceland have strengthened our team cohesion, and everyone in the group has discovered new sides of each other. A very special bond is created when you travel and share such intense experiences together, which is indispensable in an organization like ours.
